the Automotive Industry With Two New Services

London, UK - 30th August, 2004 - Covisint, a subsidiary of Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ: CPWR), today announced the availability of two new services to enable companies to securely share information and business processes with their customers and suppliers. The first new service, Covisint Identity Management, helps companies securely share in-house applications with suppliers and other vendors. The second service is the low-cost version of the Covisint Communicate portal service, which is designed to meet the needs of small and mid-sized automotive companies.
Covisint Identity Management provides a common platform for identity management by offering the components needed to securely share in-house applications with trusted suppliers. By using Federated Identity Management, this service reduces administrative and ongoing maintenance costs including password-related help desk calls that account for 70 per cent of total help desk expenses. Covisint Identity Management is already being used to connect end-users with more than 200 back-office applications of major OEM automakers and their suppliers. Companies that already have their own portal can benefit from the security of Covisint Identity Management and realise savings from the large installed base of Covisint users and administrators.
The new, low-cost version of the Covisint Communicate portal solution provides a secure infrastructure to share information with suppliers through an easy-to-use Web site. By providing visibility to real-time data, Covisint Communicate enables suppliers to make more informed decisions about their business. Covisint Communicate can significantly reduce IT development and operational costs. A study by AMR Research indicated that, by using Covisint Communicate, the cost of developing a portal could be reduced by 80 per cent and operating costs reduced by 50 per cent. Covisint Communicate utilises one common, cost effective and turnkey infrastructure leveraged across the industry, allowing suppliers to access information across the industry through a single user ID and password. Covisint Communicate shares the same best-in-class security as the rest of the Covisint services and is available in seven languages.
"Our customers seeking a high level of security and confidence when sharing their applications and information with their trading partners are extremely excited about these new services," said Bob Paul, President and CEO of Covisint, a subsidiary of Compuware Corporation. "The Covisint Identity Management and portal solutions build upon our strategy of helping our customers improve productivity and lower the cost of doing business by bridging the technology gaps of dissimilar business systems and enable sharing of vital business information with business partners."
