Compuware Strengthens Leadership Role in Addressing Data Privacy Challenge

London, UK - 10th January 2005 - Compuware Corporation (NASDQ:
CPWR) continues to strengthen its leadership role in addressing the data
privacy challenge through enhancements to the Compuware File-AID product
line. These enhancements save IT organisations' time and reduce the level
of complexity associated with generating confidential test data without
exposing sensitive customer information.
Compuware File-AID/CS 3.1 introduces an easy method of creating meaningful
test data with minimal efforts and technical expertise. Development, quality
assurance and database administration teams can generate the data they
need - with the required volume - quickly and easily, regardless of the
technology platform. This enables organisations to deliver more reliable
enterprise applications and eliminate the risks of exposing personal client
information when using customer data for application testing.
"With Compuware File-AID/CS, we have been able to demonstrate how easy it is to generate data, thus meeting the data scrubbing requirements setout by our own customers," said Ssonko Mbatha, Systems Engineer, Pramerica Ireland, a provider of technology solutions for the financial services industry. "We have a number of projects running on both the mainframe and client/server that will potentially make use of this added functionality."
Using File-AID/CS, development teams can populate fields with millions of unique names, addresses, social security numbers, phone numbers and many other values by using simple drag and drop functionality. Additionally, data can be generated from a pre-packaged data library of unique values or customised to reflect an organisation's unique naming standards or conventions.
"Data privacy regulations and corresponding litigation are an increasing concern for today's enterprises and IT Managers," said Moungi Slim, Compuware File-AID/CS Product Manager. "Compuware File-AID/CS 3.1 gives users the flexibility they need to generate the required test data, helping them deliver higher quality applications while avoiding the exposure of sensitive production values in the testing process. This is another component of Compuware's strategic solution for managing data privacy issues on both mainframe and distributed platforms."
Compuware File-AID/CS provides extensive support for database technologies including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, DB2 UDB, Sybase, XML, VSAM, IMS and DB2 UDB for z/OS. In combination with Compuware QACenter, Compuware File-AID can help development teams inject more accountability into the software life cycle. An application can be validated - as it's being tested - back to the original business requirements. This combination of Compuware products also enables project teams to easily associate test requirements with specific data results as well as identifying progress against those requirements.
