BT Extends Contract with Compuware in Move to Assure Application Performance

London, UK - 4h February, 2004 - Compuware Corporation (NASDAQ: CPWR) today announced the extension of its contract with BT to support the launch of its major new initiative, BT Applications Assured Infrastructure. BT Applications Assured Infrastructure is designed to enable multi-site organisations to gain a greater understanding of the complex interactions that occur within their infrastructure - from desktop to data centre, and guarantee that the performance of their information communications technology (ICT) is tailored to support their business priorities and processes.

Under the extended contract, BT will incorporate elements of Compuware's Performance Management suite - Compuware Vantage - into its new AAI offering. These service management solutions (Compuware Network Vantage and Compuware ApplicationVantage) recognise over 2,500 applications and enable bespoke or legacy solutions to be identified and named. These solutions will be used to provide critical insight on both application and network performance. They will be combined with BT's extensive experience in the provision of corporate data networks and hosting, and its professional services expertise.

Andy Green, CEO, BT Global Services, said: "In today's global market, companies' operations and customers are frequently dispersed so business success depends on the underlying ICT being failsafe. BT Applications Assured Infrastructure is an intelligent solution that helps resolve application performance issues before they happen, and will enable us to provide assurances to businesses that their critical applications will perform in a predictable and consistent manner. Compuware's Vantage suite is an important part of our ability to offer this service, enabling us to build an accurate picture of the performance of a customer's infrastructure. I'm delighted to build on the success we've had working with Compuware on bespoke projects, extending our relationship to support our new industriaslised managed services offering. Given Compuware's strong market penetration, global reach and established brand name, this was a natural step forward."

"We firmly believe that the ability to offer enterprises this kind of value-added intelligence is essential for ongoing business success. By guaranteeing the performance of business critical applications, companies will be able to ensure that their business priorities and processes are fully supported and optimised, which reduces operational risk," said Irene Dawson, Senior Vice President EMEA, at Compuware. "We are delighted to be working with BT - a global communications company that can deliver this end-to-end solution, right from desktop to data centre."

BT Applications Assured Infrastructure will be available to companies in the UK and continental Europe from April 2004. Rollout is expected to extend to Asia Pacific and the US, enabling BT to offer the full suite to multi-regional customers world-wide. Until the rollout of the standardised managed service is complete, this capability will be available to global customers on a bespoke basis. The contract with Compuware expands the range of performance monitoring solutions used by BT, which also includes tools from Infovista and Concord.
